I think it is disgusting the way Wigan council what to put it out to tender after five yrs they should be proud of what friends of Pennington Park have done instead of stabbing them in the back as usual whenever something nice is brought to Leigh

The cafe had been closed and neglected for many years by Wigan Council.. It was fabulous when the volunteers reopened the cafe and created the tea rooms. It has been very successful and a very popular place for all ages. I am so disappointed in Wigan Council making this decision when the volunteers have worked so hard and the cafe is part of the community. I feel that Wigan Council are taking advantage of the communities hard work and success story.

More money grabbing bullying by a local council. Have some decency and leave this place as it is

This cafe/meeting place is a lifeline for older residents. It is always busy and encourages local residents to get out and about. I always call in with my children when I visit my mum. It's also very child friendly and a perfect complement for the park. The volunteers work so hard. If it goes out to tender all their hard work will be for nothing. Whatever you replace it with will not be as caring or as community focused. Please don't mess with something that isn't broken. Let this wonderful place thrive and support the local community.

It would be an absolute disgrace to allow all the hard work and dedication of the volounteers of this project to be tossed to the side to make way for a yet another business opportunity....just leave it alone!!

I have visited the cafe with my mum and attended a weekly craft group that is held there. It's a lovely friendly cafe that is at the heart of the park and well loved by the community. Trisha and the Friends of Pennington Park have made it into a warm, homely and very cosy meeting place which is at the heart of the park and a real asset.

I would think a wise council would do everything in its power to encourage effective community groups. What a kick in the face for all involved making Pennington tea rooms the success it now is! Im appalled.

We should make sure that anyone prepared to take up the lease will go out of business as we will all boycott it
