This place is run by VOLUNTEERS who put profits back into the community NOT by a money greedy company.....leave it alone!

Pennington's tea room has helped to regenerate the park and bring it back to its former glory. It's like stepping back in time with the lovely decor, olde worlde charm and level of service. What a huge mistake it will be to let this fall into other hands.

Closing down the cafe that's brought a community together and that has helped Others so much is disgusting , it's just greed that the council now want to make money out of it !

Travesty if Wigan Council take over this Cafe after all the hard work the people of Lowton and Pennington have done in their own time!

Typical Wigan council, we the people of Leigh need our own town council. We could all boycott the new cafe,

Shame on you Wigan Councillors! This is a classic example of people in the community working for the community. Once again the chance of profit over-rides all.

We both object to the councils decision to close and hand out tenders after years of work by the FOPHP . This is a senseless conclusion to years of hard work by people who had a vision to turn the unused-derelict park building, into a thriving community hub. As others have said it is for the betterment of all age groups. Some lonely and need the tea rooms as a meeting place, as a communal lifeline. Others just coming to see santa. There have been many activities for the children and yet it still has huge potential.

A community hub being closed for profit making and greed by the council. And will it be replaced? The community is crumbling and you're helping taking away the only community spaces we have. Wigan council, be ashamed of yourselves.

Disgraceful. Called round to leave a gift last Christmas Day and the cafe was alive with lonely people enjoying a meal with music etc for entertainment. Lovely atmosphere lovely food and lovely people giving up their time.

We are a society not a business. If you want more money, I suggest that the Councillors do their bit and stop claiming expenses and view their position as one of civic duty to the community in which they live.

Friends of Pennington Park deserve to continue with the lease due to their commitment and their popularity within the community. Wigan Council should be grateful that they have such a successful cafe and meeting place within their park.
