SAVE FALCON PARK

Please do not develop our quiet little park. Battersea Park is so busy with cyclists, runners, scooters and dogwalkers with huge numbers of dogs that this is a lovely quiet haven where one can walk one's dog peacefully. There is a huge astroturf pitch in Battersea Park already.

There is enough of these pitches nearby!

•If a bat survey has not already been undertaken to determine the potential for bats on site, and or the presence of bats: •The authority should request that the developers commission an appropriate survey •If a bat survey demonstrates that development is likely to affect bat foraging and/or commuting habitat: •Linear features such as tree lines should be retained, and compensatory planting should be considered wherever possible. •If a bat survey demonstrates that bats and/or a known roost are likely to be affected by the proposed development and planning permission is to be granted: •A condition should be placed on the decision notice requiring the developer to apply for, and obtain, a European Protected Species Licence before work commences.

I agree with many of the other comments already made so I will try not to repeat them. Instead I would like to point out that as Battersea Park becomes more and more commercially driven, As someone who just wants a green space and some grass to play on, Falcon Park becomes the only place in the area to go to. I am hoping that it will never happen again, but I could not go to Battersea Park during the month Formula E took over and Falcon Park became even more important.

We need green space. Is there hard evidence more astroparks will be used enough to justify the lost green space and cost.

Why are Wandsworth Council destroying our beautiful green spaces? It used to be a pleasure living here, but now high rises are going up all over AND surely football can be played on grass like the professionals do at Wembley, Crystal Palace etc.

battersea park has 2 astro turf pitches and its 3 minutes walk from falcon park !! the more the council closes off outside spaces the worse our quality of life gets. this park is widely used by the local community, its clean, friendly and a little bit of nature on our doorstep. last point. has anyone pointed out the bats that live in the park and asked if the fences round the proposed pitch will impeed their habitat, if so they might not be able to build it anyway ?

Falcon park (or as we know it, Banana park is a place of peace and tranquility in the centre of our urban sprawl. a place to go to walk the dog, tech the children about nature, and generally relax. this should not be spoilt by the introduction of astroturf or any such thing. sign the petition now to save this oasis.

There are a lot of more interesting things that could be done in Falcon Park. Above all though the park is common ground & should not have any paying areas introduced.

Please no AstroTurf at Falcon Park. The thinking is dated, one dimensional and from another era-the 1980's when parks had 'putt putt'. Wandsworth Council be visionary & imaginative in your thinking & create a beautiful green space instead. Take inspiration from the superb & award-winning 'Tumbling Bay' playground' with its rock pools, sandpits, water features, tall treehouses, wobbly rope & log bridges & beautiful planting in the 'Olympic Park' in Stratford. The innovative & attractive play spaces of Bishops Park or the creative 'Log Trail' at Kew Gardens made from fallen trees of recent storms are park spaces where Wandsworth Council should look to for ideas. Turn Falcon Park into a beautiful park with fresh planting, contemporary water features & play spaces or revamp it so it is a mini version of our much revered & timeless 'Royal Parks'. Crowded Londoners of all ages in an ever denser city with increasingly less access to private gardens require these innovative play areas, more greenery, logs, stone, trickling water, attractive 'cool' seating in a back-to-nature atmosphere. Our parks aren't commercial 'function centres' to be sold or hired out to events that go against the very reason they exist.

Wandsworth are destroying all of green spaces through greed! These are very important to every resident in Wandsworth and it's not theirs to sell without the approval of he residents

What on earth is the Council thinking of?? Has anyone from the Council actually visited it and seen how much the local residents enjoy being in the park? Who needs astroturf when there is natural grass there already?!

I ran the campaign to stop Wandsworth Council allowing a go kart track to be built in Banana Park a dozen years ago. When will they realise the bottom line is not profit - it's the standard of life for their residents. I haven't lived in Wayford Street for a few years, though I'll be coming back in the new year. I was shocked to find the Council yet again trying to squeeze money from the park at the cost of an essential, and much loved green space. Do get in touch if you would like to know what happened last time.

Cannot this council open their eyes and see the green, instead of the money?

Green spaces are not for sale. They are nature's medicine.

Where do you expect young people to go if you continue to close parks, libraries, community centres? You should think less about profit and more about local residents who are really struggling in this economic climate.
