Protect our green space from local council planning

I am 19 and I absolutely love this park. Building an astroturf would detract, rather than add to the community.

My family and I live locally on Wayford Street and object strongly to the proposed scheme. The proposal involves the loss of green open space that is publicly accessible at all times and which is currently being used by a wide and diverse group in the community, from children to dog walkers for a variety of active and passive uses. The open space is also a valuable habitat for local biodiversity with the grassed area, providing food for a variety of local birds in the form of earthworms and invertebrate species. The proposal is contrary to the adopted policies in the Local Plan and in the London Plan. Granting permission for the scheme will mean prioritizing the needs of a narrow section of the community, namely people interested in active sports such as football over the needs of a much broader section of the community such as young children, older people, dog walkers and people who use the space for passive recreation purposes. Importantly, the present green space also permits active uses. As such, this green space permits flexible use at all times. The proposed scheme by its nature is exclusionary in nature and will disproportionately adversely impact on the needs of people with protected characteristics under the UK Equality Act and as such represents poor planning that uses scarce resources inefficiently to advantage narrow sectional interests. Further, there is little quantified need for this facility in the are as there is already an astroturf football facility on Este Rd, literally adjacent to Falcon Park. Publicly accessible, green open spaces are being lost at an alarming rate in the borough being effectively privatised and thereby being restricted to public access. At the same time, pressures on remaining public green spaces are increasing due to population growth and greater intensity of development. This is a place for residents with dogs and children to enjoy. They will destroy half of the trees in this park (that are older than us) if the plans go ahead, there are plenty of places for football to be played. Our park does not need to be ruined in this way.We played sports in all weathers outside not on custom built pitches. When men were men !!

All these decisions are made by people who do not benefit from these critical spaces and services, neither care to interact with the local community or care about the effects that these closures will have on the local community.

There are facilities for this in Battersea Park so another AstroTurf in the area is completely unnecessary. It is used by many local residents as a place to stroll, walk dogs, kick a football and generally enjoy some green grass especially for all those that live in flats without gardens.

Have you been in touch with your MP, Lord Mayor or whatever you have down there in London. Show them what happened in Istanbul when they tried to build over a beloved green space. Consider different ways of getting signatures. Care 2? Sum of us? I'm going to share this with my friends if that's ok.

Battersea residents need green space that is. It Battersea Park with its constant use for events and. Falcon Park provides a beautiful haven that will be lost with this development. Football will be an occasional use. It the pitch will destroy the lark full time.

I have lived here for almost 20 years, and would be so sad to see this park destroyed.With the amount of new builds springing up in this area, it is surely, essential to keep the balance, and retain what's left of our precious green spaces, for everyone to enjoy.

Please don't build on this greenfield site. I understand that you're looking to cut maintenance costs and also mollify residents who've seen their leisure centre close but building on precious green space is not the way to do it. This park is very well loved by all those of us who use it on a daily basis.

It has been my local park for over 20 years and now we have so many young familys in our area it really ia not fair on them abd the dog walkers. please do not do it as it effects so many local residents.
