Low cost agency to support mothers. Health NHS used to think this so important before finances mattered more than Mothers. Great group that was working so well.

The uk has one of the lowest breast feeding rates in the world. This this partly due to not have the support women need to carry on.

Shocking that the funding has been cut. As a peer support worker and having breastfed all 3 of my children & know how hard it is and the struggles women face. I’m astounded that DCC think that this is an area that can afford to lose funding given the long term benefits of breastfeeding and also the cuts to local maternity units.

Saving breastfeeding support groups like this saves the council much more in reduced health costs (bf babies are healthier) and waste costs (bf produces no waste). Why can't they see how valuable groups like this are for the mothers, babies and the community as a whole?

This group was a lifeline. All women who choose to breastfeed should be able to have this support. It helps with so much more than just breastfeeding. Please do not take this away from future mums!

My breastfeeding journey included weekly visits to Bosom Buddies in Teignmouth and I know the support I got there helped me to stick with it. I also made friends who I know will be friends for life. Having both peer supporters and health visitors available to ask questions to is really important.
