NHS staff at 50 Pembroke Court regularly use this shop, it would be a shame to loose it

The university should adopt a creative strategy to encourage the location of a variety of smallbusinesses on campus promoting student, staff and. Ommunity engagement to achieve this, starting by safeguarding the current shop

This seems a very short-sighted decision. I have been here long enough to remember a time when there was no shop, no ATM and only one restaurant - and very few students. As the facilities improved including the addition of a shop the campus became a more attractive place to be for students. The campus began to thrive. If this facilitiy is to close then it will impact on the student numbers as who in their right mind would want to come to university that has no general store? NUmbers will fall for both Greenwich and Kent and it will be fault of UNiveristy of Kent and Kent Union. A really stupid decision.

I am amazed that this shop is not making money. There seems to be queues everytime I go in there. I'm not a student. I work on campus (not for the university) and it is used by myself and my colleagues regularly. Everybody was suprised to hear that it was considering closure :-)

Such a shame!! We MUST look at all possibilities before closing Essentials. To have no shop at the Medway campus with soooo many students is just ridiculous!!!

What is any university without its campus shop! Where will students obtain provisions such as lab coats and safety specs in its absence. Never mind the academic that needs a quick lunch between meetings. People often talk about the student environment on the campus and the absence of this key student resource on campus would be detrimental to this. With more students living in Liberty Quays and close to the campus than ever then this facility really must be protected.

Please save our essentials shop, we would really miss it, plus it's a long walk to the coop- not really walkable in a lunch hour.

Why taking something as essential and being a good service to staff and students away from them? Is this the way they keep promising us to improve our university's quality?

it is an essential service on the campus, the only shop and well used & loved by students. NSS scores would suffer without it!
