Does anyone involved in this ridiculous, thoughtless decsission actually read these messages? If so could they please have the courtesy of giving their reasons for such a crass choice.

I'm just about to join the Medway campus as a masters student which means plenty of time on campus I'm sure. Yet I'm finding out this clearly helpful shop is closing. I haven't had a chance to shop there and clearly will miss out should it close. Keep it open. Being a smaller campus doesn't mean we have smaller needs.

Essentials is a good campus shop which can act both as a shop to get household supplies at short notice and as a good place to grab some food/drinks in between lectures. #saveessentials

The shop is vital to the community who study and work on this campus, it provides much needed employment and a valuable service. I respectfully ask that you reconsider the decision to close it. Thank you.

Apparentely there is a meeting about the closure on 26th june of the Medway Campus Management Board - read it in the Greenwich SU page - they reckon the shop makes "substantial" losses........perhaps those large lunch time queues are only buying 1d chews.....

The Medway campus is already lacking in facilities, and now we're in danger of losing our shop? Although it was admittedly overpriced, I and my friends use it virtually every time we're on campus and it's saved me when I needed emergency CDs/folders/whatever for an assignment deadline

The campus needs to retain some University identity and the shop is part of that. At that particular location there are already restrictions in terms of what is available, so adding to this aspect by removing another resource is disappointing.

I feel that the essentials show is extrememly well used and is always busy. It would be a real loss to students and staff from local organisations if the shop was to close.
