Surrey Lifelong Learning Partnership has been providing IT classes for over 5 years at The Wells Centre and if the government requirement is for everyone to conduct their affairs online it is essential the local authority continues to support facilities that enable those who need training in the technology to have the opportunity to do so. If not, the government agenda will not be met and those affected will remain isolated, unable to leave their homes and unable to access the services to which they are entitled. In addition to this the staff at The Wells do an excellent job which is obvious from the number of people passing through the building and the comments made within our classes. Please keep The Wells open for the sake of the community and for each individual that needs the company, support and companionship they receive within The Wells Centre.

The buildings are in very good shape, having been purpose-built only 20 or so years ago. There was minimal consultation with the residents; in particular there was no option given of increasing the cost of some services to cover any shortfall in the operating costs. The estate is geographically isolated and public transport has been cut; the centre provides a haven for many elderly residents and enables them to continue to live here in their own homes. The alternative would be to increase need for sheltered accomodation, which is of course expensive. The centre is very valuable in providing social cohesion for the estate for all ages, in contrast to many other local areas.

We use the centre regularly. It is a special place for the elderly and young. it has a very positive effect on the aging community and young families. It is at the heart of the estate.

My elderly mother has relied on this centre for many years. There is no other similar centre near where she lives that she could go instead.

still so disappointed and angry that this closure is happening. I have lived Mr the wells for ten years now and feel proud and priveledged to live in such an amazing location with a real sense of community. Closure of the wells centre would be a very sad loss. The seemingly secretive and underhand manner in which this decision has been made is also quite shocking, I really do hope there is scope for a rethink.

It will be a huge shame to close this centre, as it offers many services to people of all ages and abilities.

It is an essential part of the community and also widely used by people who do not live on the Wells Estate.

This centre is a lifeline for my mother and the many friends she has made there. Without it many of the older visitors would be unable to keep active and have a reason to leave their homes.
Please reconsider the decision to close as it will leave many devastated.

This centre is very important to all ages and those with health issues. For lots this is the only link to the "outside"world. Absolutely diabolical if it closes. I am sure council could find a lot of other ways of saving money.

I've used the centre for the past 11 years at least twice a week for Tai Chi and other activities, for meals, the hairdressers and just to socialise. I have lots of friends who use it too and it would deprive lots of people of a social outlet should it be closed.

This is an outrage to think the Wells could be closing, the Wells Centre really does serve the community young and old, and is certainly a life line for some of the senior members.

The centre is an important part of the community and cuts should be made elsewhere if at all.

I fully agree with Councillor Persand's comments. This valuable community facility should be saved and cuts made in other more acceptable areas.
