The 2% inrease in rates permitted by the Chancellor for Social Welfare should be used to ensure the continuance of this facility

How sad that it's a money problem rather than the worth of the facility to the community.

To lose the wells centre would be a huge loss to everyone in the area and to future generations in the community.

This valuable local centre must stay open. Many will be left isolated without it. It must stay open.

The centre provides valuable services, care, company and even employment to many locals. It's closure would be devastating for the area. It simply must stay open.

The Well center is an important place for many people and it should not be in any close down list anyway. It's a shame!!!

How about the council being willing to work closer with neighbouring councils to save money by sharing job positions and service provision? Or utilising some of the millions they of local residents' money they have hoarded away in reserves? Or reversing their increases to councillors' allowances? Or not increasing senior management salaries?

The council could save money in a number of ways. Why are they choosing to target a key community service?

Closing the Wells Centre would be a very short sighted way of saving money. It would deprive so many sectors of the community of a really valuable resource.

Ah the hypocrisy of a Tory councillor arguing against cuts necessitated by massive Tory cuts to local govt budgets - akin to Cameron writing to oxfordshire council to complain about cuts - see comprehensive response from leader of Oxfordshire council. What should be cut instead cllr Persand?

This well designed, compact and and efficient Day Centre hosts a range of creative and fitness activities for young and old users. It lies in the heart of the local estate and is effectively a social club for the retired and elderly. Lives are enriched by participating in the recreational events and organised activities available on site; this social benefit must surely outweigh the modest running costs involved.

To take away this Vital community hub will not only deprive the many groups that use it, but also isolate the senior citizens. Without the Wells centre some of those Senior citizens may well have no other social interaction. Please keep the Wells Centre at the heart of the Community who need it.

The closure of a community resource as valuable as this to the local residents and wider public is a crazy. These facilities should be supported.
