My Fitness League class brings roughly 15 members every week to the Wells. Over the years since classes started in 1962 we have been moved from the St John Ambulance Hall in Hook Rd to the original Rainbow Centre to Lintons Lane Centre, and now to the Wells. This was the only option for continuing our class of now mostly elderly women. But it's worth noting that we are working on our health and fitness, or we might be much nearer to needing some of the other services the Council is strugglng to provide! Is there anywhere left for us to go? The Elderly need companionship, and The Wells Centre provides.......

With an ever ageing population there should be more of these facilities opening up. It's an absolute travesty that this is proposed to close and just another example of short sighted decision making in the public sector.

Pity to close a well used cetnre -with increasing attendances. Why not close the Epsom Playhouse Theatre which is dark on many evenings.

Why close a well used centre which has increasing use. How about closing Epsom Playhouse instead?

A centre that serves the whole community should not be closed.

I cannot believe that The Residents Association voted to close this much valued centre. It is an insult to the residents of the Wells Estate as they are left with no hall/meeting place/play group etc. Longmead is to far away and the traffic jams you have to negotiate make it a no go.

This meeting place will be much missed by the elderly of Epsom and Ewell-sometimes the only opportunity these people get to socialise

My nanna uses the Wells centre. It is a really important part of the community and it gives her the opportunity to meet up with her friends and socialise and get out of the house. Its really important that these facilities remain to support the elderly. We are a close family and see my nanna a lot but the Wells centre gives her independence to go out and see her friends. She is 92 and she is amazing and I know how important her Friday visits are to her. Unfortunately not all elderly people have families like my nanna and the Wells centre may be the only access they have to see other people. It's really important that the Wells centre remains

I am passionately in favour of keeping this valuable community facility As well as providing a lifeline for many elderly people who would otherwise be isolated in their homes it provides a Pre-school facility for young children and is a venue for many classes and meetings. Why should residents of The Wells be expected to make the journey to Longmead?

Im sure many rumors float around as to what will replace the wells centre, however the ones that i have heard of ie. Housing for delinquents. Will be of serious concern to me and my family who have recently purchased a property on the greenway. Dont fix what isnt broken.

This centre is a valuable place for elderly people to go to rather than sit at home on their own . The services it offers all under one roof for the elderly is considerable and would be very much missed by all.

Is The Wells being punished for the expense of subsidising Ewell Court House? This Centre is an essential focal point for those who live on an isolated estate. All ages need this centre of excellence with such caring staff and exceptional facilities. There should be signage on the Junction with A24 and all residents should have an on line list of events. There is an excellent booklet but not everyone sees it. Would Radio Jackie, and local stations talk about it. It's making people aware of what they could lose.

The Wells Centre, and centres like it across the country, allow the mainstay of any community, its organised functions, clubs and events a venue for the locals to further enjoy the community and maintain its heart, not something that should be destroyed in todays climate when so much else is being destroyed. Please Keep the Wells Centre for the Benefit of all of its community,
