This is another example of how the budget cuts the District is choosing to make, disproportionately affect the population in greatest need. Working parents need childcare. Taking this away will create a huge need in our community.

Extended Care was critical for my boys success at school. As a working parent, and a single parent, my boys would have been forced to be latch key kids home alone after school. It helped them build friendships at school with kids in different classrooms and different grades. but most importantly, it was critical to their safety to have a safe place for them to be before and after school so that I could work and provide for my boys. This is a CRITICAL program that absolutely can’t be cut, but needs to be EXPANDED! At the start of every school year, there is panic in the community, as parents try to find out if they will be accepted into after school care or be left on waiting lists. This is BEYOND insane to ever think about shutting down this program!

As many have noted, Extended Care is a vital resource for working Shoreline families. We have grown to know and trust the people who care for our kids every day; they are a part of our school community and are not replaceable. Please retain this important program!

Parents move here for the schools and the aftercare programs. When that was taken away so many families are now struggling to find aftercare.

Parents need extended care. I do not work from home. We are a 2 parent household and we need to work. My partner nor I have schedules that accommodate fro off at 9 am or a pick up between 2-3pm when working 8am- 5pm. If care isn’t at the school there are very few resources. If you find a place you still have to find transportation to the facility that will care for our kids. This is so very important. Keep the extended care I’m Shoreline Schools!!!!

My son loved being able to stay at school, play with his classmates, and get homework done. He didn't to leave when it was pick up time! Staying at school was easy and fun. Let's keep our school communities together.

We completely rely on extended care and wouldn’t know what to do without it. Please don’t take it away. We’d be lost without it.

My two daughters adore aftercare, and it has allowed my wife and me - two working professionals - to feel confident about our kids being properly cared for during those hours when work does not overlap with school. Shoreline parents need aftercare.

As a grandparent who would be called upon to provide before and after school care, I believe this potential closure is a poor choice for kids and families. It allow both parents to work, provides structure and consistency, and strengthens the Brookside school community. My grandchild is happy at the program. Please don’t discontinue it.

We love our staff at Ridgecrest and am only able to work with the help of extended care. My 1st grader is so happy at extended care and it enriches her life in a way that I can’t while working and watching her.
