Save Shoreline School District Extended Care Programs

I whole-heartedly agree with this petition. The availability of before and aftercare is a must for working families. I am happy to remain engaged in whatever is needed to continue this much needed program.

How can we abandon a program that is proven vital to families and is beloved by our community for potentially subpar and less reliable options. Families will suffer, we collectively cannot choose instability and a decrease in our educational standards, when there is a viable solution for an already self-sustaining program. Please consider licensing the Edwin Pratt Extended Care Program where the staff is already a lifeline for our families and community.

We need Shoreline school district extended care.

Same for Briarcrest! Laura Drinkwine is amazing and has built a loving community in the aftercare program.

This is an incredible program with fantastic people. Shoreline needs it!

After and before school options should be available at all schools and especially not taken away.

After care is a vital service for working families!

On site extended care is a legacy program in Shoreline and provides unmatched stability for Chandigarh parents.

It is already so hard to find before and after school care! Dont take this away!

So many of our families rely on this resource. I’ve taught at Brookside since 2008 and have witnessed first hand how amazing this program is for our students. We need to keep this program as families will be lost without it. Daycare costs are skyrocketing and hard to find. Having it at our building allows for students to get to school easily.

Edwin Pratt’s extended care is essential for many families to be able to work and provide for their households. Ending this program will force many families to compromise on their income and going by the historical trends this will disproportionately affect the women in the family. I urge you to please reconsider your decision.

I was a student in these programs back in the 90s and early 2000s. They were a great relief for my mom who was a single mother had no childcare help and needed to keep me socially active. Losing the programs that saved me during my childhood would be devastating to watch, and my heart would break for all the Shoreline families who would be affected thay rely on this program.

So many kids are benefiting from this program!

Please keep the extended care open and ran by the school. Private public partnerships are often rife with fraud, waste and abuse.

Our kid will be attending Edwin Pratt for developmental preschool next year. He is likely to go to Edwin Pratt for k-8 if there is reliable before and after care. If not, we are more likely to consider private school.

Our son will be attending Edwin Pratt next year. We currently have a daughter at Cascade. Without after school services at Edwin Pratt, we will have to sell our house and move out of the district. We are both working parents.

Please keep extended care programs at Edwin Pratt and all elementary schools in Shoreline as part of the Shoreline School District. This is important and helpful for families. It can be also a revenue generating source for the school district.

Other after school programs are NOT like what we currently have. We won’t go backwards. Either guarantee it stays the way it is, or count me out. This is so disappointing. I feel the school board is NOT listening.

Not having before after school parent makes it impossible to work a full-time job. Not having the service makes it difficult for me to choose between taking care of my child (feeding them, providing a roof over their head, etc), and having a career that feeds my child.
