This Year has probably been one of the best years in a while for EastEnders. The introduction to the new characters have been great and has brought something \'Fresh\' to the soap. and we must thank Kate Harwood for this. But Now.. a new producer is on the way and he is ready to get rid of a few characters, yep! he wants to do things his way. and we must stop him!. ____________________________________________ From The Stage (August 2006): The new exec is a man called Diederick Santer and he is already working on EastEnders but doesn\'t take control until October. Apparently they are planning on having a cull on the 18 to 25 age group in the soap with Deano, Gus and Mickey all expected to be axed. Deano had a hyped intro with girly mags backing him to the hilt yet he has failed to pick up any real fanbase. It also points out Bradley who had a quiet intro has been more popular. They are also planning for yet another new family but its still in the early stages. The new family are expected to join next Spring/early Summer and will take over the one and only Fowler household. _______________________________________________ I can not read this article without wanting to say something that i shouldnt!, how can this new producer just come along and change things that HE is not happy with! The Three Characters which he plans to axe are Three Characters that havent been given a decent storyline and a chance to show there acting skills, and thats all they need!. The focus has been on Bradley & Stacey for far too long and it irritates me. How can he get rid of characters who are POPULAR with the MAJORITY of the TEENAGE VIEWERS. for example Deano (Matt Di Angelo) recently recieved 41% in a Viewers Vote poll for \"Who would viewers like to spend the summer with\" - surely that proves that he has a fan base out there!. if you get rid of these characters you will notice that you will lose a lot of viewers and half of these are teenagers. I run an EastEnders Forum so i can see who is popular and who isnt and you are getting rid of the wrong characters!. Just because This Producer isnt happy with them, does that mean that we have to lose them as well!.. I dont think so! Also DO WE REALLY NEED MORE FAMILIES!, cant we just stick to the ones we have got. The Wicks & The Foxes are two new families who have only had ONE major storyline, give them a chance instead of bringing in new people! Im URGING you to back me up on this and sign the petition. Lets Keep EastEnders as it is,. nothing needs changing and ratings are currently on a high.
