Today I am asking you to reconsider your position for East Bay Arts High School As a parent from Oakland School for the Arts, seeing my son can learn, grow and express himself over the last 6 years has been nothing short of amazing. He has grown leaps and bounds in visual and digital art as well as in his college prep classes It has also taken OSA 10 years to become the great school that it is today. It took hard work from the administrators, teachers and especially the parents working together to make it the great success it is today. I tell you all of this because I would be a great shame if you give up on this East Bay Arts High School before it’s even had a chance to really make an impact on the community. Think of the students. Trust me when I say that having a school like this where students and express themselves using the talents that God have them, makes for happier students. When you have happier students they are more inclined to learn and do better academically. Yours Truly, Angela Machen Pinole CA

Getting rid of EBA and merging it with GET does NOT make sense. EBA is for the arts amd has NO relation to SLz's GET slc. Our district needs to stop equating students to money; they need to care about their students and their education.

This school is a wonderful place for fostering creativity and talent. It would be a shame for future students to lose out on the kind of opportinities the school provides.

my (2) daughters chose EBA so that they would NOT have to go to a large "traditional" high school. Getting rid of EBA or diluting it into SLZ leaves no alternative schools for youth that excel in that environment - that THRIVE in a small community school not BARELY SURVIVE in an overcrowded "traditional" school. KEEP EBA THRIVING !

EBA serves a student population ignored by most comprehensive high schools. Losing EBA would be a travesty.

There must surely be a way to deal with the district's financial issues that does not victimize students.

EBA's students, faculty and administrators have built a strong, nurturing learning community. Abandoning it would be pennywise but pound-foolish, and the board must be made to realize the community opposes this.

I don't think I could have become the same professional artist or even the same person I've become today without this school. I've learned a lot here and it would be a huuuuge loss to the community without it!

Please keep this school running. Not many students would do this for this school so the administration should feel honored.

EBA is still my home away from home. I finally got the opportunity to be away from this chaotic world, constantly telling me to be something I'm not. This school made me feel okay for once. I am the kid that's a round peg in a square hole. I've embraced it now. And now it's time to protect my safe haven and repay what this place has given to me.

#EBASTAYS I personally don't agree on being the last graduating class of East Bay Arts. Every other student who attends or is planning to should have the privilege to experience all the fun projects, shows, events..etc. Without this amazing school i wouldn't be the person i am today. I don't know how i will ever thank all of my teachers for helping me so much throughout these four years.

My cousin graduated from this high school and loved everything about it. Even taking Bart early every morning was worth it. Her mom lived in Tracy and still wanted to go to this school no matter how much it took to get there everyday.

Please do not close EBA. My daughter graduated class of 2015. For 4 years she made the commitment of commuting from Tracy. My youngest daughter is planning to attend next year and make the same commitment. EBA is where dreams come true.

The superintendent's proposal lacks imagination, not to mention creativity. But then, I don't believe he ever attended an art school.
