The Dublin Fire Brigade service is an essential service for the community not only do they provide a fire service but also medical assistance which can be life theratening in some cases. This is a very valuable service. Firefighters are quick to respond to calls.

If the HSE take over the level of high service that we have in Dublin will go to the wall. The HSE cant manage what the have correctly already and you want to give them more? This is a disaster just waiting to happen.

40% of all emergency ambulance calls in the state, for less than 10% of the ambulance budget. Somehow I don't think the HSE can match DFB for value for money

From what I have heard there are is good reason for Dublin Fire Brigade to keep providing the ambulance service they do. Firstly, when there is an emergency call to a fire an ambulance would automatically be dispatched, meaning any casualties at the scene would be treated imediately. Also, it appears the Fire Brigade respond to a much larger quota of call-outs and at a lower cost to the HSE ambulance service. It's a no-brainer, keep and improve the service, pay and working conditions we have from Dublin Fire Brigade!!
