This is unique and must be preserved. If only it were extended to the main bus interchange to provide a connecting service from the hotels and guest houses along the promenade and the MER, it would provide a much needed service. Please don't destroy this wonderful piece of Manx history.

It is outrageous that such an historic and world famous railway (even mentioned in Bradshaws guide) can be treated in such a disrespectful way .The government should be ashamed of ruining the worlds only working horse tram system. With imagination and consideration , much could be made to benefit from this asset like converting the stables into a horse museum and stables
and extending the tracks to the steam railway as suggested in the Douglas 2000 exhibition. To sell off the surplus tram cars , shorten the track, demolish the stables and build plain sheds is an act of historical vandalism .

The Island still depends on its tourist attractions, and I have been pleased to advise on how the IoMSR can develop and still retain its heritage. The horse tramway is unique in the world, and should be a key selling point for Douglas and the Island. I consider that truncating it as proposed, and abandoning the heritage buildings, will have a massive negative effect on the Island's economy.

We thought that this tram way had been saved only to find that it is now under threat again. I wonder if the Manx Government know what a treasure they hold in this unique attraction. The proposal is vandalism of the first order.

In order to remain practical, useful and viable the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway needs to be retained along the full length of the promenade. The DBHT is an essential part of the Tourism/Heritage experience - please don't let it die with this ill conceived scheme.

The horse trams are what set the Douglas promenades apart from every other seafront in the world. To do away with, or truncate the route, would signal the island really has finally succumbed to a state of capture by offshore finance. A tough call for govt, but they are essential if there is to be a genuine sustain and save the horse trams!ed revival in tourism. They are as iconic as Manx cats and the TT. Mann up and save the horse trams!
