The last surviving operational horse tramway in the British Isles is an important part of our technical and social heritage and deserves to be preserved in its entirety for future generations. Too much Manx heritage, especially transport heritage, has already been lost and it is long past time to redress the balance.

These proposed changes will destroy the history and character associated with this heritage tramway, leading to total closure. This should not be allowed to happen!

The IOM needs all the unique selling points it can get and one of then is the DBHT. Its not the weather after all!

A double track horse tramway along the entire Promenade is a very efficient traffic calming measure. It also keeps open the option of through running from the Manx Electric using battery-powered, electro-diesel hybrid or hi-caps-powered electric trams. But most of all the original full-length horse-hauled line is potential World Heritage material and a great tourist attraction.

Half a tramway will result in greater losses. A single track with passing loops from Derby Castle to the Sea Terminal is the best option

Coming to the Island since I was 18th months old and riding on the horse tram. I am now 62 years old and still love it. Please save it!!!

Logic would dictate it needs to be the full length of the prom. Half way = half measure! This treasure, the envy of many tourist destinations, should be protected for us and future generations to enjoy.

Unfortunately, if the tramway does not continue to run the full length of the prom, in some form, then it is sadly finished. It simply will not be able to survive running from Villa to Derby Castle. The tramway’s valuable addition to the tourist industry is far more important than retaining on street parking on both sides of Loch Prom. If the IOM government laid the track, then sponsorship from worldwide vintage transport enthusiast could be sought to fill the shortfall in operating costs. But first you must lay the track, otherwise all is lost!

Shortening the service run would be pointless. Coming back from Ramsey to get on a service that runs only halfway to the terminal would sign its death warrant. This would be sheer stupidity to shorten it, better still would be to extend it to the steam railway.

I first had a ride on the trams in 1955, I always look forward to a ride along the prom when I visit. The cutback of the railway was bad this would be catistrofic.
