It would be madness to change this iconic Horse Tramway. Our family, and no doubt many others, would consider the Island a much poorer place for a holiday visit should this ill-considered proposal be agreed. The IoM can surely ill afford to risk future visitors. It is sheer lunacy.

If you do this you are destroying your history and the pleasure of all who use the trams. DO NOT DESTROY THIS TRAMWAY

This would be a short-sighted own-goal for an island that relies on visitors coming to enjoy its heritage.

History should be preserved- not torn up just to make money.

This is part of the heritage of the Isle of Man . Take away the heritage and the island will loose one of the tourist attractions that brings people to the island .

This is the island's heritage, your proposals will destroy part of that heritage and turn it into a gimmick. It will be lost forever without a true purpose. Invest the money in improving the existing infrastructure, not a temporary fix to see its demise. Would you cut the Laxey Wheel in half?

I cannot believe that such an act of vandalism can be condoned by an island that relies on tourism

As a former resident and current tourist I find a decision to undermine this unique attraction disappointing and short sighted.

To get rid of the horse trams would be an act of vandalism. You have a unique attraction there so why not cherish it instead of undermining it's future.

The island will have no history left soon

Surely a tourist attraction like this cannot be allowed to close, a look at how successful Blackpool's tramway has been with the re-introduction of some of their heritage cars.

The horse drawn tramway is a historic form of transport that is a key element of the Isle of Man. It needs to be protected from the current short sighted people who will be long forgotten in a few years time, whereas the tramway predates them and hopefully will outlive them. As custodians of this iconic tramway they should protect it not vandalise it.

Are you MAD?! The Horse Tramway is unique, it is fantastic, it's an icon. A jewel in the heritage crown of the island, and on top of that it's useful as well! That prom is long...

It would be really sad to see this wonderful mode of transport consigned to history to aid the motor car. I would like to see the whole route retained and the service kept as a tourist attraction giving visitors to the lsland the opportunity the relish a past era. The horse tramway blends in well with the tramways and steam railway possibly providing a unique transport opportunity anywhere in the world.

I simply cannot believe that one of the most unique reasons we all come to the Isle of Man is in jeopardy. You promote yourself as a tax haven - for heavens sake, why not use some of those gains to preserve something so unique?
