SAVE DOUGLAS HORSE TRAMWAY FROM THE LATEST ATTACK

The truncated scheme is useless & will destroy a unique tourist attraction on the island admired the world over. I visited 3 times during 2016 & if enacted it would reduce my connection with the island.

It has been an important part of each of my visits to the Isle of Man.

Keep the historical horse tramway, it´s unique heritage!

Why oh why are we even thinking of getting rid of our historic and heritage in the IOM? This should not happen!

I think we should keep the horse tram,s theyare part of the history of the Isle of Man and as such should be kept

Extremely short-sighted initiative by the Manx government, lacking in any kind of imagination, pride or integrity. They have a unique piece of history here that could be used to add to the appeal of the island and its tourism industry. Instead they seem intent on tearing up the island's heritage - and a little more of it soul with it. Abandoning the tram sheds and stables would be a travesty. Never mind this loss-making nonsense; get a proper tourism strategy together, make some investments, encourage better connections with the mainland and unlock the island's value as a tourist destination.

I believe the horse trams should be kept in a similar layout as is now to the terminal as this gives the better coverage for people visiting the island

Don't let the narrow minded Manx government destroy this unique tramway

I would like to express my continuing concerns over the future of the horse tramway. The tramway represents a unique, and still complete historical resource, which in these uncertain times for the Island, post Brexit provides a capital resources for building the Islands tourist offer based on high value, niche destination marketing. Furtherrmore the survival of the tramway in its complete and authentic format would add significantly to the aspiration of the Government to achieve World Heritage status for the Island's heritage railways-an outcome that would provide a virtuous circle drawing further visitors to the Island. If implemented the present series of proposals would deny your visitors and Manx residents the opportunity to savour this unique form of transport along the full sweep of Douglas Bay including:- the breezy seascape embracing views of the Tower of Refuge; the architectural delights of the Loch Prom terraces, and the signature buildings of the Gaiety Theatre and adjacent hotel (Sefton?), all along the proposed abandoned route. To those arriving at the Sea Terminal it would also significantly reduce the immediate presence of the Islands transport heritage, particularly those disembarking from the Island's increasingly busy and lucrative cruise ship trade. The disposal of the Victorian stables-a truely unique survival that would on the mainland be protected by listing, and the loss of tram shed that provides a still characterful terminus at Derby Castle, despite the loss of the ornate station awning that I recall form childhood holidays would be a similar tragedy, and would totally eliminate the very real possibilities for both of these buildings to more fully contribute to a visitor experience of considerably greater charm and authenticity than the proposed contemporary tramway visitor experience suggested for the Summerland site. This historic feature should be preserved for future generations. It's also handy when my legs are tired!

A treasure like this should not be vandalised for any politicians ego trip.

This horse tramway is a unique and treasured part of the Islands Heritage. Every effort should be made to preserve it, shame on those who are proposing these changes to a most historic and well loved attraction, It is a major part of the attraction of visitors from all around the globe including ourselves. It is a vital mode of transport to carry passenger to and from the ferry terminal and those who utilise it to get from the MER, to the railway station or bus station.

For the horse trams to be useful they must run to the Sea Terminal and the stables are a historic building that is part of the island's heritage

All efforts should be made to keep the Horsetrams as they are part of our Manx Heritage and unique to the island.

My main concern as a visitor to the island (i,e, not resident) is to prevent the removal of what can also be an essential link for visitors arriving from ferries and needing to travel on smoothly along the promenade's full length. Never mind the comparative quaintness of the traction - the tramway cuts out the need to walk up to the bus station before going on north, another useful advantage to those with heavy luggage and/or young families in tow.

Please save our Heritage its what make the island unique.

For the horse tram to survive it needs to continue to run over the full length of the existing line and not be shortened. The horse tram is unique and draws people like me to the island. Although the horse tram may not bring in a lot of money itself it is what the people visiting the horse tram spend elsewhere on the island that helps locally.
