Unbelievable that they want to butcher a unique asset that attracts visitors from around the world which adds to the Islands economy.
It is all very sad and looks like the motor car lobby is very powerful.

Don't the legislators in the I.of M. have any sense of their own history? It is crazy to rip up parts of something as historic as the the Douglas Bay Horse Tramway. It is a tourist icon, one of very few of it's kind left in the world.

I was holidaying on The Isle Of Man in 2015 and stayed in Douglas. I rode and photographed the Horse Tramway. I thoroughly enjoyed it and to abandon the tramway would be a tragedy. This type of thing has happened here in Australia. There are too many people who simply do not care about preserving these historic and much loved tourist attractions. Way too much preference for the motor car and no concerns about the deaths, damage and costs that comes with the enthusiasm for the road network. Michael Kohler, Adelaide, South Australia

Its crazy to destroy a popular tourist attraction, which the development plan will do, when the island needs to boost its revenue and foot fall from tourism.
Please listen to and adopt the ideas of those who have cared for the facility for many years. You most likely will only be in your position a relatively short time, but making changes that the island is stuck with for ever.

Also over the world governments and the public are waking up to the value of our history. New tall ships, steam locomotives and other things lost to history are being rebuilt from scratch. Here you have a piece of living history and are willing to destroy it? I'm sorry but that is utterly wrong.

It is vital to the survival of the tramway that the tracks are kept for the full length of the prom. Don't let the DOI destroy the horse trams!

The IOM transport is a delight to tourists. Each day I was there I travelled on the Horse Tramway. It must be preserved.
