The horse tramway is too important to lose. It's a vital piece of the Isle of Man's heritage. If it goes, the number of tourists will decrease alarmingly. We must all fight to save it!

The Douglas Bay Horse Tramway is part of our heritage and a significant element of the Douglas Promenade Conservation Area. Any development should be about preserving it in its entirety and promoting it as a unique tourist attraction.

As a Transport Planner and someone with over 30 years in marketing it would seem silly to truncate one of your major tourist attractions given you have used it in marketing material for the island. This is a short sighted proposal which future generations will rue. You will not be looked upon kindly by generations to come.

We are regular visitors to the island as we love the place. Tucked away from the maniacal world of the mainland, it is like a stepping back in time and quite wonderful. The Tramway further endorses this and we use it regularly. I am not alone in my thoughts, so for the sake of your economy alone, take my advice and keep it just as it is. People love it.

Please preserve this wonderful piece of Manx heritage fully intact. This irreplaceable tramway is the most iconic feature in Douglas and is a key part of what attracts visitors to this island. It must be saved from short-sighted political forces that fail to see that eroding the tramway will dramatically dilute the pull the island has for visitors from all over the UK, Europe and the World.
The horse tramway needs to be recognised as an amazing and unspoilt example of pre-fossil-fuelled transport and it must be TREASURED – with all parts of it being granted special historic status, so that it will ALWAYS be preserved.
