Don't close the historic horse trams on the prom. It is one of the beautiful aspects of the IOM that I love as a regular visitor from Australia.

Railtrail Tours puts over 1,000 bed nights a year into a major Douglas hotel and our clients feedback shows that the horse trams are an absolutely integral part of a visit to the Isle of Man.

A must on any summer trip to the island. Something unique to add to your other historical transport operations which makes the Isle of Man a transport lovers' destination in its own right for holidays. Only a fool would truncate or close it. Leave it as it is please.

I have enjoyed riding on this tramway on visits to Douglas; I believe it is unique and find it unbelievable that anybody would propose to reduce it in length or abandon the historic car sheds and stables.

They are part of Manx Heritage, if the tram lines are truncated, they will go eventually.

Please keep the unique Horse Tramway in Douglas: we visit the island regularly and always go on the Horse tram!!

The Horse Tramway needs to be prioritised as a historic, working transport link along the whole of Douglas Promenade - where car use should be discouraged. The stables need to be upgraded, not sold off to make a quick buck.

I have grown up with the trams the same as my parents and grandparents did, I would like to think this would be the case for my grandchildren and great grandchildren, it's one of the few things left for us true manxies to leave from our heritage.

The TT really wouldn't be the same without the trams !!! Its bad enough not have the promenade entertainment. Why O Why trying to fix something that isn't BROKEN. We all love the TT for what it WAS.

The horse tramway is a feature of Douglas sea front and at all costs must be included as a significant part of the Promenade Conservation Area.

The horse tramway along the whole promenade has been truly iconic all my life from family holidays to going to school camps and now on holiday as an adult.
The tourist capital from it is far spread and diverse: when a cruise ship called at Douglas when we were last there a German lady and others were enthralled by it and the MER/Snaefell Railway. To be able to visit the superb horses in their stables is intrinsic to the whole experience. You can`t put a value on that goodwill and fame.
Currently the trams are a significant feature of UK holiday brochures, again a unique attraction. The Island cant afford to lose the benefit of that.
It is unparalleled as a heritage site which I would favour being named as such internationally. And that means it staying exactly as it is with added upkeep and restoration, not downgrading it to an inferior shadow of its real self.
So PLEASE - do the cost benefit exercise based on the factors above and other factors, and appeal for substantive donations from Manx residents and other citizens of the UK to ease cost on the public purse. BUT PLEASE DON`T make it second rate. The damage caused would be irreparable.

The Isle of Man is different. The horse tramway is one of the key features promoting the atmosphere of the island to the rest of the world - and some people want to destroy it! How little vision some people have - can they not see beyond pound signs?
