I have been holidaying in the IOM for 20 years and to see the horse drawn trams is fantastic. I think to get rid of the history and heritage of something like this is scandalous at the least and very short sighted on some ones behalf .......it should not be allowed to happen, tourism on this island seems to be on a downward slope not being developed !

my wife and I visited the isle of man last year we had a wonderful holiday looking back we both agreed the horse tramway was our best event

I think it is very sad that a piece of heritage Douglas is being proposed for scrapping when the tide of support for heritage survivors of a by-gone era has never been greater in a world sadly changing for the worse in all respects!. How out of touch can the Tynwald be?

Surely you must have some sense of heritage, of your own history?
Would you dismantle the Laxey Wheel if it were yours, just for its scrap value?
This proposed destruction is tantamount to the same wanton ravaging.

The horse drawn trams are an asset to tourism in the IOM. It would be a huge mistake to lose this beautiful benefit to visitors to our Island.

It would appear the IoM government knows the cost of everything and the value of nothing, as a regular visitor to the island I will be very sad if this proposed vandalism takes place.

As I said in my letter of objection to the original planning application this will turn it into no more than a fairground ride. You might as well relay the tracks in a local park. Disgraceful destruction of one the Isle of Man's unique pieces of historical heritage

Ripping up the tracks will have a negative economic and social impact on that side of the promenade in the long run. Don't regret this as well. Remember how people feel today about the Douglas to Peel railway line. I don't want to have to show my kids photos of the tram, I want them to be able to ride it.
