The Horse Tram is part and parcel of the wonderful experience of visiting the Isle of Man and visitors love it and expect it, but perhaps what visitors like and expect is thought not to be very important.
Planners should think very hard about what they are about to do, and remember, once done reversal of the decision is not an option.
So what next?
Think very hard you who plan to destroy a much loved facility of The Island, you may well find when it is to late that you've shot yourselves well and truly in the foot.

The horse tramway is a key part of the Islands heritage and is unique. A shame that the Islands policticians just see it as an expensive inconvenience which is in the way of development.

It maybe outdated but that is the charm of the horse trams and I think it should go the entire length of the Promenade. Actually I have always thought it should go to the railway station so that all transport meets up.

It is wrong to start the trams from the Middle of the Promenade because it will spoil the journey in that the prom is only about 1 mile long and people who visit and get off the boat are not going to walk around half a mile to travel a distance by tram half a mile, many who stay are in the lower half of the prom. The horse trams will lose money under this proposed scheme of starting halfway across the promenade

I would be disappointed if we were to lose the Douglas Horse Trams or have a truncated service. The Trams are part of our Island's Heritage and a unique visitor attraction. I is my view that associated costs should be shared Island wide via Government.

Please ensure the Douglas Horse Trams remain as they are, and not ripped up into a shortened version.

Preserve the tramway as a unique and historically valid attraction. Its route along the full length of the promenade and its historic stables are integral to its character and its historic value. If lost, they could never be recovered. Act befire it is too late!

Please preserve the full-length Douglas Horse Tramway. A rump of the line just wouldn't be the same. It would also break the link from the centre of town to the MER.

The destruction of the Horsee Tramway in its present form would be an immense loss to the character of Douglas Promenade. Some years ago the Gaiety Theatre came under similar threat - thank goodness that sense prevailed and it was saved. Many other seaside towns globally would be delighted to have such an asset as the Horse Tramway; I strongly urge Tynwald not to destroy it.

It is more important than ever to preserve our Manx History in all its forms, the Horse Trams being an integral part of it since 1876 and those people who wish to destroy it clearly do not want to play their part in attracting and keeping visitors to this Island.
