The government should be ashamed of themselves trying to get rid of the horse trams. It's part of Isle of Man history and they should be proud of that!!!!

I support to keep the horse tramway depot/stables in operation and to ensure that the horse trams run on the full length of the horse tram route.

The horse tram is a jewel in the Isle of Mans Heritage crown and is a unique tourist attraction much enjoyed by visitors of all ages and from all walks of life from all round the world-
The horse tram is part of the Island's unique Victorian transport system and is a much envied working example of a bygone mode of unhurried transport that in today's context provides a welcome and pleasurable relief for visitors from the inescapable hustle and bustle of their modern lives.
The horse tram has social benefits as well - it is an acknowledged natural traffic calmer and It's presence makes people stop and smile. What else can you think of that has such a positive effect on its environment?
The Borough Council should be ashamed of themselves for not ringfencing this unique asset and securing its future for future generations to enjoy.
The Horse tram has very many proactive supporters who would be prepared to supplement the running costs .
It should be taken away from Douglas Borough Council's careless control and passed into the hands of the Heritage department to cherish for future generations.

What a completely stupid idea; is the Isle of Man trying to totally destroy their tourist trade? If so, they are going about it the right way! Much of the IoM tourism is precisely because of the "step into the past" feel of the island. Aside from being an attraction in itself, the horse trams seamlessly link the other two main elements of IoM heritage transport. They cut it back at their financial peril - the lost tourism would cost them far more than any savings they would make with this dubious scheme. Who drew it up? Arthur Daley?
