The Douglas works and especially the absence of horse trams actively persuaded me to cancel a planned trip to the island.
The current truncated service is a very poor substitute.

We were there in April, and the HORSE TRAMS, we rode many times, and it was the HIGHLIGHT of our trip, and this is history, and should be left, we loved the romance of the ride, and love the slow, clicketey clack of the horse hooves and seeing all the sights, slowly, and enjoying morning and eveinng rides, take away the Horse Tramway, and you have have taken away the HEART of what the Isle of about, slow and lovely living, don't let progress deny the love of the past, and present, this is what makes the Isle so SPECIAL, the Horse Trams. My family and I are annual visitors to the Island. Its unique transport heritage is one of the big attractions for us and the downgrading of the Horse Tramway from a real form of transport to a theme park ride would greatly detract from this.

There has to be a better way, what next are they going to build a car park on Douglas head for the bankers, please think again, for 60 years on and off I have been to your beautiful island, and the first thing that greets you is the trams, good luck to all the Manx people.

It's been a long time but I can still remember riding the horse tram when on holiday. It was and still is a highlight. We are lucky enough to have one near us in Sth. Australia and it is full every trip. People love them. Douglas would not be the same without it.

the horse trams are a vital part of the attractions of the island and should be retained and ideally extended back closer to the ferry terminal.

I agree with the all of the previous comments.It would be a truly sad promenade if we did not have our lovely horse trams, a wonderful summer sight, running the full length of the promenade.

I'm 22, Manx born and now living in Wales. I couldn't believe it when I heard that the horse trams were being attacked! Recently, I persuaded a few of my friends in Wales to visit the island and one of the main factors that they went was to go on the horse trams across the promenade as they are unique! It's a crime to get rid of the old sheds too when they have been there so long! What's the matter with the Government?! One of the reasons I'm so proud to be Manx is because of the heritage railways and how we kept some of them while the UK axed theirs! (I'm still angry about the closure of the Peel line though!).
