Hello I'm Aaron and I was one of the pupils who when to the dyslexic units. I went to the dylexic unit in Crimond and I might not be that perfect but it help a lot when I was there. So please keep the units up and running because if it helped me it will help others aswell.

The unit is transformative for the children (and their families) who are benefitting from specialist and intensive support that cannot be replicated within mainstream schooling. Why take away something that works, speak to the current children and those who have previously benefitted to see how their lives have changed. DO NOT take this resource away, make changes if necessary to ensure more children can benefit but do not remove.

By closing these units these children who are currently thriving will once again be overlooked and marginalised. This is a backwards step being implemented because of costs at the expense some of our most vulnerable children.,

These units have a proven track record of helping pupils who are struggling in the normal classroom environment. No matter what provisions are put in place in schools there will always be a justification for units like these that allow the teacher who is specialised to give more time to the pupil. by providing much smaller class sizes.

Dyslexia is a condition that cannot be ignored. I was diagnosed when I was 8 years old and without support i would have never finished school with 6 higher and advanced highers and got into one of the uk's top universities.

my brother went to kellands when he was a kid and even 3 years younger I had the same ability as him when he first went, he went on the do higher and get a degree, amazing unit

Why are we closing units down when children need the help? Who else will provide the support?

My friends son went to Kellands after a long battle to get him there. His reading improved immensely when he was there. Adam is severely dyslexic and although his primary school were supportive, Kellands gave him the consistent ongoing support he needed. Without it he may never have learned to read at an acceptable level.
