My boy also suffered from this but with the help that he got he has now got a good paying job and his boss e's now about it it would be a shame to close the place so let's think again about funding

As a parent of a teacher I totally agree that teachers are over stretched and cannot give dyslexic pupils the support they need

Good luck, our daughter is Dyslexic, and we can't get a place at Kaimhill in Aberdeen. Her school does give her support, but it is limited.
Don't think councils realise how much support is required!

My daughter attends Kellands, fab school and it would be a shame to lose something that's been such a success for many children!

This is a disgrace. Children who attend these units not only get the educational support they need they also get the vital social support from fellow sufferers.

My son is dyslexic and it's just not true that he is catered for in mainstream education. It has taken me two years to convince his school that he is dyslexic. They have only taken on board that he is dyslexic after we had him diagnosed out of school which was a lengthy and expensive procedure. When he was found to be 3 years behind, they said they already knew! Our school are struggling, as I'm sure every school is, with a shortage of SFL staff. I think closing any specialist dyslexic unit is disgraceful.

I believe that dyslexic classes are highly important for those that struggle with their learning disability. Losing these would be a huge loss to their education and development.

This is truly shocking news! I do not understand why the council thinks this is a good idea. Both my brother and I would not be where we are today without the Kellands unit.
