My son spent a terrible time at a mainstream primary as he was deemed a naughty boy,spent most of primary 4 sitting on is own facing a wall! Discovered in p5 that he is highly dyslexic,he has never regained is confident all through his school life,we need specialized units like these so children can be taught to live life to the full and not cringe everytime they make a mistake in class where others can criticize,

It is a disgrace. Teachers in already large classes of 25-30 children can't not spend the time that is required to help teach a dyslectic child. It is very specialist skill and every child has the right to a education and every support system that is required to help them develop and succeed in life. The knowledge and specialists didn't exist when my family member needed it and her local primary said they were slow. We were lucky moved schools and got help - they have since graduated uni and got a masters. That would not have happened with out the support the private school and family fought for. Todays children need this centre and so do the parents as the children are progressing so well you can not take that away from them. Find another area to cut from.

There is a great demand and need for this service. Please keep the service going as our children's future success depend on it !

There are cuts we can accept, but these are unacceptable.

Shame to see them close. My child has required a lot of support and I'm very thankfull for the help he has received so far and is still reciving it's vital to children with dyslexia to get the correct support.

Its amazing what these schools do! We must keep them open, you have no idea how many kids it helps!

I have mild dyslexia and these units are essential we should be opening more of them not closing them.

My cousin goes to one of the units and it has really helped him. Our school doesnt have all the teachers we need so if my cousin had to come to our school I dont think he would get help or maybe he would and I wouldnt.

This is an important facility which offers the best future for our children with dyslexia so that they can lead productive happy lives in adulthood

Don't close these schools, I'm from Aberdeen and my son was one of the lucky ones to go through the unit, what a difference it made and I would be gutted for all the parents and kids. Mainstream cannot cope it's down to the individual teacher some are good and some are very bad! I have had my son sat in a corner at playtime doing his work he didn't complete and crying not wanting to go to school. These schools offer the unique help that the child needs for coping, confidence and gaining ability. Without them there will be a lost generation of kids who fall into the background of classes 30 or more and fall further behind. They are not nice to have they are essential and to be honest there is not enough places or schools like them.

I worked at Crimond during my probation year and the work they do in the unit is second to none!

I am dyslexic and I need a unit to help me when I was at school so please donot closure as we all need education everyone need education

these are much needed mainstream just doesn't cut the mustard
