We have recently lost our allotment site to a developer, although it had been designated as an Asset of Community Value, and the community had made an offer. The owner waited until the 6 month 'right to bid' was up and the lease had come to an end, and then informed us the sale was off and cleared us off the land.

It is terrible that nowadays people think they can use allotments for building. Allotments are a wonderful resource for a city.

Allotments are a part of British heritage, part of our culture, and wholly beneficial to societies. Councils have plenty of spaces within their towns, that could be developed if they would look hard enough. Claiming the allotments is an easy way out. It's entirely unfair that some of the most pro-active, pro-life, pleasant people should be displaced for the sake of a political agenda. I implore you to find a better solution.

For allotments to be viable they need to be close to people's homes. Kemp Town is in danger of losing this viable allotment site forever.

We need to make sure all allotmenteers are aware of this very worrying move towards removing our wonderful established social growing spaces which would be difficult to rebuild once lost

I am of the belief that allotments are a vital part of the community, and should be expanded, not reduced. I only wish that we had some allotments in my location, but, unfortunately, they have been swallowed up by "developments". Apart from this, allotments are also beneficial to wildlife.

Please don't build on these allotment plots as they have been carefully maintained to be fertile. Moving the plots would destroy a community. Both fertile soil and community spirit are becoming less common now. Please consider the people on the land!

All allotment sites have 'potential for housing' - however they are very important spaces, especially in densely populated areas. Of course we have to build new houses, but not at the expense of allotments, particularly the very valuable ones in inner-city areas.

Councils should meet their statutory obligations regarding allotments, leave these alone and meet provision in new housing as they are required to do.
