Clearcutting is an outdated and intentionally destructive practice. I am outraged that in today's day and age we refuse to find ways to improve the land we walk on instead of ruining it for generations to come. For shame. Cut the greed not the trees!!

There has been, and already is, enough development in and around Cougar Mountain. Traffic is already maxed.
Adding additional housing and commercial development will only add to this issue. Additionally, and more importantly, we need to think of and protect our environment, the wildlife, and future for other generations. Owls, Eagles, Deer, Bobcat, Bkack Bear, and other various woodland creatures depend on this habitat. Clearing forests and erecting buidings and adding further human population will force them into distress, and into our communities. We live in May Valley and have already seen effects on widlife due to buiding of housing complexes. This needs to be taken care of, for everyone's sake, not because of money and people who have it. Thank you.

This is a prime opportunity for the city of Issaquah to put it"s money where it"s mouth is and do something to preserve it's abundant but dwindling natural resources. Significant and meaningful sacrifices will have to be made to work towards it's vision of preserving beautiful and verdant land. it will be worth it! Because in the end there will be no going back once it is gone. By protecting this precious resource many, many people will reap the positive benefits throughout the future. If the developer trashes this land, he will line his pockets with cash and a very small handful of wealthy people will get their expensive house on the hill. This will do nothing but benefit them. This is not in the best interest of Issaquah and it"s residents and does not match up with the vision of Issaquah nestled in the Issaquah Alps! Stand firm and protect what you stand for!

Cougar mountain is gem: a local, easily accessed place to exercise and connect with nature. I also love seeing the lush hillside from I-90 and knowing that it's there--a place to go to feel restored and refreshed. It sends a message that we prioritize our health and well-being. There is indeed a demand for housing, but to diminish and chip away at the places that we recreate in while adding *more* people and cars is backwards thinking. Let's step up and preserve this local treasure.

I live in the Talus community on cougar Mt. and have watched Traffic congestion get continually worse; it would be irresponsible to increase the number of residents without a major overhaul of the roads to accommodate the increased traffic. In addition, I have also watched watched with concern as landslides threatened my water, gas, and sewer service after steep slopes were partially developed. The proper in question is even steeper than the location of the current landslide in Talus- raising concerns for the safety of the area if development occurs.

Cougar Mountain is an area that is enjoyed by many. People come from all over the Eastside and Seattle to experience its natural which will to destroyed by the proposed development. With the exploding growth in the Seattle area we need to have some natural settings close by for our future generations to enjoy and experience nature.
I have concerns that construction of over a thousand feet of retaining walls and a 12% grade road through 40% grade of slopes could destabilize the hillside.

The motto on the City of Issaquah official website is "A special place where people care." If true, then City Planners should care enough to keep Issaquah special. Just say no to the over-commercialized development of the Bergsma/Windward Cougar Mountain hillside property. To borrow from the infamous words of Inspector Bezu Fache in The DaVinci Code, it would be ""a scar on the face of Issaquah."

I understand that it is important for kids, bikers and hikers. MORE importantly, we must save the WILDLIFE and the TREES; they do far more than many realize.
