We need to be willing to help the City pay for the purchase

We 'Saved Squak', now we need to "Save Cougar Mt'! We can't continue losing our forested 'Open Spaces', and MUST stop this development.

Between the large cities, this is a respite, one of the only large places for youth to see untrammeled nature. Our future depends on their opinion of preserving natural landscapes and ecological balance that comes from trees vs cities.

I am a property owner (4-plex) in downtown Issaquah. I and my tenants love the rural surround and walkable downtown. These attractions bring people and tax revenues to the city. I also am a hiker and birder and use the trails on Cougar and Tiger frequently. I value the wilderness experience 18 miles outside of a major city. That is a unique benefit. The view from I-90 sets the tone for Issaquah's residents and businesses. The Bergsma/Windward hillside is in full view as you approach Issaquah. To loose it to a housing tract and would be shortsighted. The forested hillside IS Issaquah. Please preserve it for our and future generations.

With the rapid increases in population saving spaces like this is ever more important. There is no going back, only "if only"

Hello, I am a member of Eastside Audubon and the Sierra Club and live in Bellevue, WA. I have hiked in the Cougar Mountain area and walked the trails to watch for birds. The area provide valuable forest habitat for a variety of bird species including Pileated Woodpecker, Chestnut-backed Chickadee, Steller's Jay, Olive-sided Flycatcher (a threatened species), Swainson's Thrush, Pacific Wren, Golden-crowned Kinglet, and a number of other bird species. A critical component of forest habitat is to keep it intact, because breaking it up creates more forest edges, which discourages birds that prefer deep forest from nesting. This proposed development will certainly negatively impact any bird species that needs deep woods habitat. I support full acquisition of the Cougar Mountain hillside area by the City of Issaquah and King County, much in the same manner that the Cougar-Squak Corridor was preserved. I know so many people that love this area to escape the traffic and city noises. Please save this area.

Please add my name to the effort to preserve this green, natural hillside from development. Once it is lost it is lost forever. We already have enough development. Our leaders and developers need to learn that word: "enough" and live within it.

Please help save this dwindling vestige of what our region once was, and what continues to make it special. One only needs to cast an eye to Somerset to see how short-sighted development and pursuit of short-term profit can ruin a vista forever.

We need more natural areas not less. Save this area for people and wildlife.

Keep "as is!

It’s a beautiful hill and would be a shame to log it. Much better to create a park and preserve greenspace.

We must protect our ever-decreasing open spaces and protect peoples property from the damage caused by excess runoff.

Please keep this rare open space undeveloped and open to the citizens of King County!

We support this petition to Save Cougar Mtn from further development on the eastern slopes.

It is very important to save and protect EXISTING PARKLANDS. Don't destroy our parks for more buildings and roads.
