This breaks my heart - small settings in rural areas are always going to have fluctuations. But they are vital to the communities they serve. It's terrible to always have the threat of closure hanging over them every time there's a quieter year. Just leave this nursery alone to do it's good work.

We attend a rural school and my son was in the nursery for 2 years. He got to know the older children because there is a lot of crossover in play activities. He also benefited from a quiet setting. It makes it much easier for the children to transition into P1 because they are used to the setting. Even though they are small, our rural schools are a vital part of rural life. Closing the nursery will lead to falling numbers and discourage families from moving into the community.

All my 3 children went to Cortachy Nursery, then Cortachy Primary School and then on to University. Cortachy education set them up for the future.
Angus Council need to think/look long term and commit to keeping the Nursery open in order to subsequently ensure sufficient feed for the Primary in the following years.
This needs to be about looking after the rural community and making a commitment to the Angus Glens.

I don’t currently live in Cortachy but used to live in that area, and know how long it takes to get from Cortachy to Kirriemuir, nevermind travelling from even further up the Glen! My children currently attend a ‘rural’ school (slightly more populated) but it has been fantastic for my children. I also work in early years, and yes, it can fluctuate from year to year, it would be sad to see it getting closed down, which would more than likely end up with the school closing down in later years :(

This school and nursery is set in a beautiful location.There is a lot of young kids that would benefit from this nursery outwith the glens.
