Save Cortachy Nursery

Rural settings provide unique opportunities for children to develop and learn. It would be sad to see this lovely setting close and the children relocated.

My daughter attended the nursery and now attends the school. Its a fantastic nursery and provides a much needed option to rural families.

It seems a very short-sighted policy by the Council to close Cortachy nursery - a policy which is at odds with any desire to foster a sustainable rural community. How are young families to plan a future with this sort of uncertainty?

I have two children one of whom is being turned away from the nursery after having spent a wonderful year there and a second who would be eligible to attend in 2027/28

My son loved Cortachy - it would be sad for it to close

Keep this nursery open please.

Rural nurseries are an essential resource that provide for local families. The smaller class numbers are actually a huge benefit to so many children who would struggle in a busier setting and who would also have to commute further to reach those town settings.

The potential damage to the glens community of closure is huge

It's so important for rural schools to provide education for all local children. Fluctuations in numbers are inevitable and a longer term view is necessary.

I have personal experience of the benefit gained from attending a small primary school. My fear is that closing the nursery will herald the end of Cortachy PS which would be a disaster. I believe the Nordic countries place great emphasis on integration of preschool and primary school. Cortachy Nursery and Primary School, from what I have seen as a grandparent, is a shining example of how ALL should operate.

A child should have a right to go wherever their parents feel best within areas

I feel it's important for children to be educated locally - especially Nursery and Primary. I think travelling at a young age detracts from time in education.

I believe children should be able to attend their local school nursery and not be forced to travel elsewhere.

Why does the council not support this. Moving everything to 1 location is not working for all the Scottish services.

My three children have all been through Cortachy Nursery, each year the numbers have fluctuated, but truly believe that all three have benefitted from an excellent environment and setting, and have all progressed to the Primary school.
