This is a decrease to the Italian people. These people that wanting these changes want to change history. What ever happened in 1492 probably would never happen in today's world so, that was then. We should celebrate the Italian history without fault by someone else interviewing on our history.

The whole issue about Columbus came about because a person who rewrote the school text books incorrectly wrote inaccurate and false stories. We request the book company investigate and hire multiple, unbiased professors to review, check, and rewrite.

As a proud American of Italian descent I ask that you take not part in the systematic campaign to erase the history of my Italian FAMILY. Christopher Columbus deserves the recognition he is given and we need to keep his courage and achievements in the History of The USA. Please do not replace our Day, but consider choosing another Day for the Indigenous People. There are so many days open to choose from.

Removing Columbus from our history and tearing down statues will not erase the injustices of the world but it does destroy an icon who changed the world for the better. Do we really have to blame him for all the injustices of that time?
