As a parent, I worried about injuries, but concluded that all sports have risks. My daughter gained tremendous leadership lessons from participation on the team.

As an Irish person I can't see ye logic in cutting a successful team for your college and simultaneously increasing funding for you failing football team. It is important to support those who are doing your university proud!

Eliminating rugby on the grounds of "health and safety risks" is stupid. If they're that concerned over injuries from contact sports, get rid of football and hockey. Those sports are way, WAY more expensive, and have at least as much risk of injury, if not more.

As the partner of a Colby Alum, Mandy Reynolds '12, I have seen the positive impact and support system that Colby rugby provides. Don't take that away!

While I'm not on the Colby Rugby team, I am a part of college rugby and know the importance of the sport. Cutting the rugby program is an awful shame and very poor decision.

I would encourage Colby to remember that it is a school, not a corporation - and that budget cuts like this can have truly detrimental effects.

I am a 2012 Middlebury Alum and I remember the good times I had playing against Colby. If health and safety is an issue, then the football program should be ended as well.
