While I ultimately decided not to play after my commitment with the varsity sport I was recruited in ended (Alpine Skiing), I attended some practices last spring. The men and women of Colby Rugby are dedicated athletes, and a cohesive brotherhood. My team was the most important part of my Colby experience, and taking this opportunity from these committed young men and women is disgraceful.

Please do not compromise the great diversity that Colby has worked to promote by eliminating the Rugby program. To do so would be an affront to our values that Colby isn't confined to classrooms and Colby believes that every activity, in and out of the classroom, is an essential part of a student's intellectual, personal, and creative growth. Rugby promotes all aspects of that personal and cultural growth.

Rugby is super important. It's one of the fastest growing sports in the world and it's an amazing way for your students to build and experience community while bettering themselves mentally and physically.

As a former athlete at Colby College, I realize the irreplaceable bonds and experiences that come with being a part of a team. I sincerely hope that Colby Rugby is saved.

I have great memories of the comraderie between the Colby and Bowdoin men's rugby teams, with good friends on both sides of the ball. The administration's decision to abandon the team and it's heritage is a damn shame.

Come on, getting rid if Rugby but not football??!!! At least with Rugby the tackling is clean ... There are no head shots ... And no one is mislead thinking he/she is protected by a weapon!!
