I and other Columbia students are appalled by the lack of administrative support for Colby Rugby, especially since club teams already have to work much harder to support themselves than recognized varsity teams that receive extensive financial and institutional support. The amount of response alone should be enough to give these teams another shot--what institution wouldn't want such passionate young men and women to play for their school, proud to wear that name on their jerseys?

I was first introduced to rugby while attending college over 10 years ago. Since then, the rugby community has taught me leadership and the value of hard work by individuals towards a group cause. The game has also introduced me to a lifelong brotherhood, a social and professional network that extends much deeper than most. Your friends at Charles River Rugby and all over New England stand with you!

As a member of the Williams College women's rugby team, Colby has a great team that was a pleasure to play. If the rugby team is getting disbanded, it only makes sense to disband the football and soccer teams, along with all sports teams with high injury rates.

rugby is a great sport unlike any other. also, because it is rarely played in american high schools, Rugby is the ultimate walk on sport for college students. It has been widely recognized that a sport can help the transition to college in areas of time management and community building. so why would an administration like Colby college, an esteemed liberal arts college deprive their students of an opportunity to grow as a student, athlete, and valuable member of the college's small, collaborative, community?
