Why anyone would choose to remove the rugby team from Colby is beyond me. Colby Rugby taught me more about success over adversary than one could ever imagine. How many times did we go against teams that were physically and numerically larger than us, yet time and again we could come together as a team and break them. Playing ruby at Colby taught me that you could be immersed in something that is 100% out of your comfort zone and succeed. My time on the team was filled with broken fingers, concussions, separated shoulders, a dislocated jaw, and playing on fields that most teams wouldn’t be caught dead on and I wouldn’t trade it for anything in the world. It didn’t matter how bad the pain was, how the conditions were horrible, or how large the opponent was, we knew that whoever we are playing would physically have to break us before we would give up. Rugby and my time on the team was a cornerstone in my Colby education. If the school decides to end this program it will be nothing short of a disservice for future generations of Colby students.

As a member of the Tufts University Women's Rugby team, I can only imagine with what horror and sadness the member's of both teams received this decision. Rugby is a sport that brings together strength, quick decision-making, speed, and most of all, trust. It is a sport that lends it self so easily to creating a family. A family that trains together, learns together, sacrifices their bodies together, and grows together. No amount of money is too much when it comes to providing students with such a unique and rewarding experience. The rugby family is the most accepting, loving, and loyal family and to take that away would be harmful beyond repair. SAVE COLBY RUGBY!

playing Rugby in college taught me more about life and teamwork then any class I took. its more then just another sport it is a lifestyle. One that teaches respect and hard work. please don't take this opertunity away from these kids.

As a current member of the Tufts Women's Rugby team, I know I would be devastated if Tufts ended our program. Rugby has provided me with a support system and sense of belonging that can only be obtained through playing a team sport. It has helped me grow as a person and has allowed me to make lifelong friends. Save Colby Rugby!

Please save Colby Rugby! Some of my fondest college memories are of bludgeoning the Colby squad relentlessly as a UMaine rugger. Colby should remember the adage "I'd rather play rugby and lose, than win at softball."

Rugby is the epitome of a team sport. It brings out the best in women and men, and fosters team spirit like no other organization of which I have been a part. Rugby is a sport that does not require a body type, specific set of skills, expensive equipment purchases, or a particular practice area. This means it is a sport welcoming to an incredibly diverse range of individuals. What's more than that, is the members of a rugby team not only learn how to play the sport, but they learn about teamwork, as student-athletes they learn about time management, and they gain incredible personal confidence. Rugby is one of the only sports in which men and women play by the exact same rules, and at many schools, Colby being one of them, the men's and women's teams are incredibly supportive and respectful of one another-- something which I have not experience in any of the other 4 varsity sports I have played. The financial claims made by the Administration ridiculous, and in ending rugby at Colby the Administration is taking away one of the best, most inclusive and empowering programs it has. My sister was a captain of the team, and I know that is where she found her best friends at Colby-- the one's she with whom she is still in touch and for whom she would do anything. Her involvement with the sport inspired me to quit varsity soccer and join the Tufts Women's Rugby team, which has been the best decision of my college career for all of the reasons previously stated.

Rubgy is one of the only contact sports available to women, Colby College. It is over all an incredible sport, and a great community. Please do not deny your students this chance.

Bosotn Rugby player and have several friends which attended Colby. Rugby is a great opertunity for students to stay physically active, make friends that will last a life time and gain networking opertunities.

As a Bates alum, one of the highlights of my college career is the time that I spent playing rugby. It was character building and it made me feel like a part of my school's community. Our best rivalry was with Colby, and I can tell you that it would be a mistake for you to deny future students the opportunity that myself and countless others like me have enjoyed.
