Let the ruggers play. It's a passion above and beyond the sport. And why keep football, if rugby is being dumped? This makes no sense.

They should take out the football program instead. That game causes more health/safety risks than Rugby.

As a high school administrator I am shocked and saddened by the decision of Colby College. Rugby can have such a positive impact in so many ways! Good luck getting this overturned!

I am a player and former member of the board of directors for Portland Rugby. I have seen first hand the personal growth benefits of playing rugby in college and would hate to see a club be shut down for any reason especially when it is based on the fact rugby is an injurious sport, when in fact is it one of the least injurious contact sports. Please save Colby Rugby.

In 1976, I opted for Vassar College over Colby. I soon found myself playing rugby and found it to be a wonderful and rewarding part of the college experience. As an Alum, I remain involved in the program and it is the intensity of devotion shown by our Alums that probably has colored the remarkable dedication and support shown by our Administration toward rugby.

As an alumnus of a rival rugby program at Bowdoin College, I know and understand the value of a club rugby program at a liberal arts college like Colby. I know how much my rugby experience meant to me as part of my development in college and I cannot imagine what it would be like to return to campus without a rugby program alive and well at school. I forged bonds on the rugby pitch that have lasted since I left school and will last for years and decades to come. I hope that Colby will revisit its decision.

Club programs operate independently of general campus funds; as a student-run and student-funded, and fundraised, organization, Colby's administration is overstepping boundaries and procedures. Sorry Colby administration, your students are interested in rugby, have been for 30 years, and as a student-run club, not a varsity or academic program, they are there to stay. Congratulations, you have a rugby "problem." Go Colby Rugby.
