I was a rugby player at University of Maine at Farmington for 3 year and Colby was always the match we looked forward to most. When we defeated them in the Maine Cup in 2007, one of the veteran players on my team was brought to tears because he had never beaten Colby. The Colby rugby tradition is something respected by all who have played them and it would be a huge loss to Maine college rugby if the school chose to discontinue the sport.

Don't cut funding, rugby is a growing sport in North America and there is an opportunity for players to go very far in this sport if they choose to continue playing

This team has such an incredible, transformative impact on so many students' lives at Colby. Even as a non-player, I fully believe that Colby needs Rugby. The sport and the team mean too much to students for the administration to take it away.

Not an alumni of Colby College, but of the Ball State University Women's Rugby Team '11. Rugby was the most valuable thing in my life in college, got me through hard times and gave me the confidence to pursue my career with the same tenacity as I played with on the field. Injury is a risk of any sport! And financial needs can be met through other means after negotiations!!
