Erroneous and disgraceful decision by Colby College. Any support I can give please let me know. Sincerely, James Isaacson. Life University Mens Head Coach 2009-13

I am the proud parent of a member of the women's rugby team. My daughter played rugby in high school, after giving her all for a couple of years rowing, and finding that she was simply too short to excel. Rugby turned out to be her sport and she only looked at colleges that had rugby teams. I am as concerned about safety as any parent but football is every bit as dangerous and I don't see the school cancelling that sport. It feels that the rugby teams have been singled out because they have relatively small constituencies. As a parent who has paid full tuition for my daughter's yeas at Colby, I stronly urge you to reconsider a decision that is a major blow to the college expereinces of my daughter and her teammates. The strong signal you have sent is that my daughter and teammates passion is something their chosen school simply does not value. If not, reveresed, what has been joyous college experience, will go quite sour.

Rugby is a lifelong sport, just like tennis but better. It's cheap for the school, so keep it around.

Well said Heywood. Any rugby club that would supply only one pony keg to the visiting team for the traditional after game festivities and then pass the hat to that visiting to buy more beer should be banned forever. May I suggest the delicate constitutions of the White Mules are more suited to Quidditch.

Rugby is one of the most valuable sports in the world for character development, camaraderie, and physical development. It requires almost no financial assistance, and has WAY less serious injuries (bruises, twists, dislocations) than football (serious concussions, broken knees, broken necks and backs, etc). Don't make such a rash decision about the second most popular sport in the world, please.

School admin should take a look at the strict regulations the IRB has instituted regarding even the *hint* of a concussion. Far, far more stringent than amateur and NFL football. Rugby culture does not treat head injuries as lightly as football culture does.

As a college rugby player, I know that rugby is an amazing, unique sport and I would be devastated if it was cut at my school!

Rugby is becoming a mainstream sport and to cut a sport based on injuries is just an excuse. You're not cutting football though? Even though that has plenty of injuries, about the same as rugby and they wear sissy pads.

Colby rugby is unlike any other sport at colby. It creates bonds like brothers and sisters among players and is a large part of the social scene at Colby. As an alum I am truly dissapointed in this decision.

They souldn't cut a rugby team. Rugby is a way to express who you are. It's a way to feel free, and if they are thinking about cuting rugby, why aren't they thinking about cuting football ? The both are important ! I wish the best to the rugby players !
