Extensive research has proven that involvement in a club, be at athletic or otherwise, improves retention and graduation rates as well as alumni giving down the road. Universities need to support more clubs like rugby, not less.

I played rugby at Smith for all four years. Not only did it help me form amazing friendships, but it enabled me to hone my leadership skills as a member of the board for all eight semesters on the team. Rugby helped me foster resilience I have drawn on as a middle school teacher. Come on, Colby!

I'd personally like to review the inordinate cost, the health and safety risks, etc. Yes, rugby has a collision/impact component to it, but it's only factor in the overall game.

Rugby at Colby and all colleges and Universities across the country should be nurtured and cherished as it represents sport at it finest level. Purity of sport is very difficult to find outside of the club in today's world and Rugby should be held in the highest regard.

The measure of a great institution like Colby is in providing a full range of academic and athletic pursuits. And rugby has become mainstream on many campuses. Find a way to continue the program!

The administration should work with the team to devise ways the club can be self sufficient and raise funds to offset cost, not simply pull the plug on the program

I learned to play this wonderful sport in college. It was club rugby, not an NCAA sport. I still play 40 years later. This connection has helped me in business as well as developed friendships that cover most of our 50 states.

Its sad that liability trumps everything. Athletic trainers can't do anything about concussions, so why have them on the field? Let the players sign wavers and get on with it.

Rugby is a great sport, and just as beneficial to athletes as many other sports that make up the college experience.

The girls Rugby team has put their heart and soul into this sport, winning every game they played. Taking away Ruby at Colby, a sport loved, not only by its players but by the spectators as well, would be such a loss to the institution. If you're so concerned about high collision impact sports, why not eliminate Football?
