Rugby is a traditional sport of all ages and should never be banned from any corporation due to the team bonding and relationships along with the athletic concepts that a player learns. The sport is all about the team and protection and we learn life lessons from it every day!

I can't thank rugby enough for what it's done in my life and the people that I've had the pleasure to interact with. While I also did not play for Colby, there is a brotherhood and sisterhood between us all because we are Ruggers. I do hope that administration realizes this.

Having participated and coached football, wrestling and rugby nearly my whole life there is a difference between collision sports and contact sports. Football is a collision sport, by design and rules it is intended to result in HUGE collisions, vice versa Rugby by design limits large collisions, the fact that 'Blocking' of any type is illegal in rugby severely limits the opportunities for two players traveling from distance at speed and hitting one another, also the fact that you have to wrap/bring your arms in rugby and the tackler is responsible for the tacklee's well being to the ground. The culture of rugby is one that looks down on those that don't adhere to the laws of rugby.

While not a Colby student, rugby was a formative part of my college experience. I would hate to deprive someone else of the rugby experience. Save Colby rugby!

I'm a student at Bowdoin. This is insane. If the program shouldn't exist than cancel it. If it is okay, allow to continue operating. Don't hold the program hostage for 2.5 million. That is hugely unfair.

It would be a shame to lose out on the history and memories created by past alumni. Rugby teaches more than just tackling, I challenge the administration to attend some home games before the final decision is made.

Mya (a Colby alumn) is a friend of mine, and it would be a huge mistake to remove rugby. Rugby is far safer than football (check the facts!), and college players go on to build relationships in rugby for work, socialization, and sports for the rest of their lives.

Please review your policy and find a way to keep the program. Your costs are high and i believe unnecessary. I've played rugby all my life including college and we never, ever had a EMT/ambulance service on sight for the entire game, nor did we have paid coaching staff. This is club rugby, not DI football. participants know the risk and USA rugby can provide you with any information you need to know regarding insurance coverage the players and field receive.

To paraphrase Grant Allen and Mark Twain, "Don't let studies get in the way of education." Colby, are you cutting your lab classes unless someone creates a new endowment for lab materials? The student athlete is the epitome of a balanced person who is better equipped to succeed in life and society. Denying the women and men in your rugby programs of the opportunity to learn that balance is denying them one of the keys to their education in college.
