I can't even begin to state how incorrect and misguided Lori Kletzers arguments against the rugby program are, but this is just another example of ignorance on a topic having a real impact upon student's lives.

Anyone who has made a decision to pull the sport of Rugby on principles of safety and costs, while allowing the continuation of sports such as Ice Hockey and American Football, clearly has no knowledge whatsoever of these sports, or the prevalence of injury and the costs associated with them.

Rugby is an important sport, and there are health and safety risks to every sport. People need sports to keep themselves healthy and working at their happiest, most productive states, both in and out of school, and taking out rugby will hurt any current or potential player's academic skills and emotional and psychological well-being, and is a needless cut to Colby College.

If you examine injury rates of rugby versus other contact sports such as American football or ice hockey you will find the incidence of severe injury significantly lower.

It is obvious that this team has made a great impact on the lives of its members, and its tragic to see something that is so positive and wonderful on a college campus being defunded and not appreciated by the administration. It should be saved.

"...high collision/impact sport." Is Colby getting rid of football, ice hockey, and lacrosse, too?
