Save Colby Rugby

I am a friend of Colby rugby, and respectivelly request that you re-instate this sport for both the young men and women of Colby.

We believe the value that team sports, especially rugby, brings to Colby cannot be underestimated. The unilateral, closed doors approach to making this decison and the lack of response regarding itemized costs of support rugby is deeply disturbing. The decision should be set aside and Colby College should looks to its alumni, friends and students to find a way to continue to field and both men's and women's rugby teams.

Rugby is a great sport to play and to watch. I support this petition and will spread the words!

A cost audit is in order. What is the source of the mandated cost?

Colby students need RUGBY!

Football has worse head injuries. If you are taking away Rugby for that then you must be taking Football away too.

I am a Middlebury student who participated in the college's women's rugby club and had the pleasure of playing Colby's team. You have a strong program that provides an amazing opportunity to students to play a great sport with great people. It would be a mistake to put an end to that. Rugby is, more often than not, played safely and the benefits far outweigh the risks. I hope Colby will reconsider this decision.

I would like to know where the school came up with the 115K number. No way does it cost that much to have a trainer at every practice and game. Colby Ruggers should do like most every other school and fund themselves. Admin is ignorant

Simply put rugby is the greatest sport on the planet. The tight knit band of brothers and sisters which is rugby is unrivaled. I'm an alumni of Alfred University's rugby team along with 5 different men's clubs from across the country from divisions I, II and III as well have played in 5 different countries worldwide. The friendships and experiences rugby has provided me on and off the pitch are continuing to grow and to deprive these young men and women of the same opportunities on the guise of high health / injury costs is a farce. Keep Colby Rugby!
