Rugby is a classic sport that teaches people that they can do many things both on and off the pitch. It would be such a shame to see yet another team fold.

Rugby has taught me so much about myself and has helped me to grow into a stronger person, both mentally and physically.

If the kids love it, why take it away from them? It's a part of school and enjoying being there for the kids on that team.

My college just started a women's rugby team and I joined around early October. Since then, I have become more comfortable with my body, gained confidence, and became a part of a family. I know I would not be as happy and comfortable with my life if it wasn't for rugby. It is a lifestyle worth fighting for and no one should have to go without it.

This is one of the teams that creates a warm atmosphere for other students. They contribute to the main sporting events. I originally was on the team, but didn't stay because the sport wasn't for me, but the family it created for me on campus followed me out into the real world.

As a former player of some 30 years experience, now coaching girls rugby at under 15 & under 18 level, it is very clear to me how much benefit young women can get from rugby. I have seen many, including my own daughter, gain in self confidence, become comfortable with their body shape, and make long lasting friendships, all of which would be closed to them without rugby. The USA is relatively new to rugby, and I suspect there is not yet the broad knowledge of the game, especially in college administrations, that you will find here in Europe, or in the Southern Hemisphere. Rugby is safe when coached properly - without a proper coaching structure, strictly adhered to, people will get hurt. With a proper structure, that doesn't happen, barring the occasional (and I mean occasional) accident. Colby needs to invest in a proper coaching programme, not remove the opportunity to play & grow.

Canceling a program is not the answer. Students shouldn't be deprived of an opportunity to grow and develop as an individual. Rugby is also the ultimate team sport, and helps in a students future professional development.

All physical sports carry risks, but you're not talking about ending them. Education, training and practice should be ongoing. Keep this team sport going. The benefits far outweigh the risks.

There are risks to playing rugby, but no one is being forced to play. If someone wants to play they should have the opportunity to do so. The risk of injury can also be decreased with proper knowledge of how to go properly tackle and be tackled.

The health and safety risks only affect the students participating in the sport; college students are mature enough to be liable for themselves. Finances can be discussed.
