To the administrsators: I'm signing this petition in support of continuing Colby College's Rugby program. I am a former college football player who switched to Rugby and found a rich, rewarding experience that's lasted 38 years. I found in Rugby a community that's been a backbone of my althetic, personal, and professional lives. I still play Old Boys Rugby, with and against people I've known for decades. The game is comparatively inexpensive in terms of the amount of equipment and support it needs, and provides benefits beyond the years played in college.

Colby Rugby has a long tradition. Let's have a reasonable conversation about how to make it work in the future.

Rugby is more than just a sport, it builds character, courage, determination, and compassion; nobody should have that opportunity taken away.

This program is a huge part of the school and many people enjoy playing, watching and supporting the rugby teams play and the many events that they host. To end this program would end an important and amazing part of the school.

This is BS. Rugby has long been at the forefront of both amateur & professional sports in acknowledging and seekimg to minimize the physical risks inherent in contact sport. As a rugby player you learn to use an opponent's size and strength to bring them down - not to try to flatten them. Other sports should adapt or be cut first

This is by far one of the best sports I have ever played in my life, having played quite a few different ones. But as others say its not only about the game its about the sense of unity with your fellow players whether your on the same team or not. Rugby has afforded a great group of friends to me who throughout my college career has just been increasing as the new players arrive and join in with us to form a wonderful team of people who love a game and love to spend time playing it with others.

I have to echo some of the comments by those who have been associated with rugby for the better part fo their lives. I have "only" played for 36 years, and I also coach. Through rugby I have made friends all over the world, and the rugby friends I have here at home are some of my longest standing friends. Rugby isn't just about the game... but the game is why we all love it, and why it should remain a part of life at Colby.
