Save Coach Sergio at TPES

Can’t think of a more important part of education than that of exercise & team building - now more than ever!

We love Coach Sergio and we need him to teach our children! He is very special and he deserves to continue to teach at Torrey Pines after 30 years!

When I think of TPES and the La Jolla YMCA I think of coach Sergio. During my time as a student at TPES and the YMCA I spent countless hours with coach Sergio playing sports, games, and developing a love for being physically active. Thinking back, my favorite thing about elementary school was PE. I loved being outside, learning new sports and playing with my friends. I went on to be an athlete in highschool and college, and I owe a huge thanks to Sergio for helping me develop a passion for being active. Through the years I have kept in contact with Sergio and have admired his commitment to the families and children at TPES and the YMCA. My oldest son just started kindergarten at TPES. I was thrilled that he would have coach Sergio as his PE teacher just as I did. It saddens me that someone who has dedicated his life and career to this very community feels his job is in jeopardy. I hope that we can have Sergio keep his job were he is loved. The school, ymca and community at large are a better place because of him.

Coach Sergio is one of the kindest souls to ever walk this earth. His commitment and dedication to the youth of this community is unlike anything I’ve encountered in my life. His reach goes far beyond the school grounds and his impact is lifelong. Coach Sergio would do anything in his power for each and everyone of us and I proudly sign this petition.

Coach Sergio is a staple at TPES, an important part of our community, and a good man who loves our kids. Losing him at TPES would take a bit if the heart and soul out of our community.

Coach Sergio has touched our family's lives over and over and always positively. My son and Daughter Mila and Toby, TPES Alumni, are now 15 and 16 and still ask about Coach Sergio. Simply, Coach Sergio is absolutely the heart and soul of TPES and his Job must be saved.

Losing Sergio at tpes or anywhere would be a disservice to the children and the community. He deserves better, your children deserve better, the community deserves better. He is the embodiment of all the pillars the Ymca and school preach. 30 years of service! Come on!

I've known Sergio since I started summer camp at the YMCA when I was 5. Through my childhood to adulthood he has always been there showing his support and kindness to everyone he meets. There is no replacement for him and there is no reason he should be forced out of the incredible work he does for children and adults everyday. He is a hero and inspiration to all.

Coach Sergio is one of the kindest, most patient and dedicated people I’ve known and I feel very fortunate my son has him as a teacher. Please keep him at Torrey Pines. It wouldn’t be the same without him.

Sergio is a vital part of this community, and has been instrumental in the lives of children for years. It would be a heartbreaking disservice to future students if Sergio was no longer part of their education at Torrey Pines.

I have taught theatre at TPE for over a decade now and seen Coach Sergio in action! He is so wonderful with the kids and enriches the school In every way!

Sergio has been a mentor to me for the past 20 years and deserves to be at TPES for as long as he decides; TPES has been fortunate to have Sergio lead their PE program thus far and I hope he stays until he is ready to move on.

Coach Sergio was my PE teacher almost 10 years ago and has left an incredible impact on my love for sports ever since.

Coach Sergio was my PE teacher 20 years ago that impacted my my childhood ! He was an amazing PE coach filled with so much energy and positivity! I truly hope he continues to stay at Torrey Pines and influence other kids like he did to many of us !

Coach Sergio is such an amazing part of TPES. The school wouldn’t be complete without him. He is so caring about his students. I remember when I got injured, he was eager to know what happened and see MRIs, wishing all the best and accommodating for me in PE-he always wants the best for his students!!

Coach Sergio was one of my favorite teachers, it'd be sad if he left :(

My kids are in high school now and they all loved him and still do! How can you resist his smile, his energy and his kindness! Please keep him. Our kids need him!
