My Daughter study at TPES and she enjoyed her time there. I remember that Coach Sergio was always there early morning to run with children and their parents. Kids warm out, every kid loved him. He is one of the most important personnel in the school. Physical education is a part of growing up. In this world the is starting to forget the importance of it. Hope that this continues.

Coach Sergio is a dedicated, kind and really caring coach that deserves not only stability in his job but the appreciation and gratitude of countless students under his care for generations. Whom ever is proposing eliminating his position, doesn’t understand the importance of sports in moulding young people into happy, well-adjusted productive adults that the right person can contribute as in the case of Coach Sergio.

As a former student of TPES in the mid 90s coach Sergio was one of the only people who believed in me and always encouraged me to run faster abs be better. His encouragement and love for his students is why I continue to believe in myself and run harder in life. Please make sure his job is secured. It would be a travesty if Coach Sergio no longer had a place in our community.

Coach Sergio exudes joy, compassion and encouragement. I just can't imagine our time with TPES without him. Every TPES child should have the chance to benefit from Coach Sergio's guidance. He is truly an institution. We love you Coach Sergio!

I am a member of the Kiwanis Club of La Jolla. Over the past 25+ years Sergio in his capacity with both the YMCA and Torrey Pines Elementary has been an integral part of helping us plan, set up, execute and take down our La Jolla Junior Olympics event for the nine elementary schools in La Jolla which reached close to 1,000 children. During that process he was the coach for the boys and girls teams from TPE. His kids absolutely love him. He was like the Pied Piper and they all looked to him for guidance and support. He was a big part of our event and the kid’s event. He could coach my kids any time.

Such an amazing teacher, even years after having him I have thought about how much he pushed me and taught me. I played sports throughout my whole elementary, middle school, high-school and college years because of him helping me find my love for sports.
